BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Cheektowaga man is being honored for saving the Wyoming County Sheriff from a knife attack.

Senator Patrick Gallivan presented the Liberty Medal Wednesday to Jack Harzynski for his heroic actions in December. The Liberty Medal is one of the higherst civilian honors a New York resident can receive.

Harzynski is credited with springing into action and helping Sheriff Gregory Rudolph tackle a suspect.

The suspect, Lynn Hall, isfacing charges for attempted murder.
