BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A new kitchen, slated to open next month at the Broadway Market, is going to be used for culinary entrepreneurs.

The "Kitchen @ the Market" will offer food production space and storage.

In a press release, the Broadway Market manager explains, "this is meant to bridge the gap for up and coming food producers who have outgrown their home kitchens, but aren't ready to set up their own commercial kitchens."

“This kitchen will be a wonderful small business development tool because it will allow small food entrepreneurs to make their products in a licenses kitchen and sell to the public. It also gives us a new element for public programming on Saturdays, such as visiting chef demonstrations and healthy cooking demonstrations,” Kathy Peterson said.

The kitchen is 800 square feet. It's got commercial stoves, ovens, freezers and prep space.

The Westminster Economic Development Initiative has been selected to operate the kitchen.

It's a nearly $465,000 project that will be paid for through grants.
