BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Crews in Buffalo responded to a two-alarm fire at a home on East Utica Street, early Thursday morning.

Fire officials say they first responded to a vehicle fire at 695 East Utica Street near Fillmore Avenue just before 1 a.m. which spread to a home.

The fire chief tells 7 Eyewitness News that two adults and a child were at the home at the time of the fire and were all able to get out safely.

Firefighters said the home had several compartments making it hard to contain.

"There's all different of walls and things in there so it's very tough for us to get in there middle of the night, in the dark and find our way around in there, so it took crews a little while to get around and find a clear path safely," said Peter Ketzie, division chief with the Buffalo Fire Department.

The fire did roughly $150,000 in damage to the home and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
