Firefighter sent to ECMC after battling fire at home in Buffalo's Parkside neighborhood

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Buffalo firefighter was sent to ECMC after battling a fire at a home in Buffalo's Parkside neighborhood, Tuesday morning.

The fire started in the attic at a home on Crescent Avenue near Russell Street around 2:30 a.m.

According to the fire chief, about 100 pounds of dry wall landed on a firefighter prompting them to be sent to ECMC by an ambulance.

That firefighter was conscious and alert when taken to ECMC and is expected to be okay.

The home was vacant at the time as the owners were doing renovations.

The fire resulted in roughly $100,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
