AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — 250 students from eight schools around Western New York converged at host school Sweet Home High School Thursday for the 3rd Annual Challenge 2 Change Summit.
It’s an event born out of the “change movement”.
That movement was created in response to the unrest in Ferguson in 2014.
But, here in Western New York it’s entirely led by students. High-schoolers created this summit for each other — to express feelings and concerns related to race, injustice, and unity.
Its mission is to create student leaders who can tackle difficult issues in meaningful and positive ways.
This year’s themes included knocking down the “Wall of Intolerance”.
Participating schools included:
Sweet Home (Host)
Williamsville East
Williamsville North
Williamsville South
Ken West
KEN East
Iroquois HS
West Seneca East
