BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Despite COVID-19, Gateway Longview's foster program is still going strong.

"We're still open, accepting referrals and we're training people to become foster parents," said Michelle Federowicz-Cope, VP of Foster Care and Residential Services at Gateway Longview.

May is National Foster Care Month, and Gateway Longview has had to make changes to fit the coronavirus.

"(The child) visits with their parents, which is really sad, are now being done virtual," Federowicz-Cope said. "But the families are 'ok' with it because it's to keep the kids safe."

While operating 100% remotely, Gateway Longview is continuing to look for people that could be suitable foster parents.
