TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — For more than a decade, Tonawanda School District has adopted a Make-A-Wish Western New York Wish Kid to help grant wishes. Throughout the school year, students and teachers raise money towards the wish.

This year, the district adopted Paige MacIver from Hamburg who wished to go to Paris. The 14-year-old battles a chronic illness that impacts her brain and spine.

The fundraising campaign ended Thursday with a dodgeball tournament for students and teachers where they continue to raise money through the game and raffles. Even before the tournament began, the district raised close to $13,000 for MacIver's dream trip.

In August, the MacIver family will be heading to the 'City of Light' through the district's fundraising efforts and Make-A-Wish WNY.
