CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) — On Tuesday night, the Cheektowaga Town Council unanimously voted to suspend the re-assessment project due to COVID-19 concerns.

Cheektowaga Supervisor Diane Benczkowski issued the following statement:
“Tonight, our Town Council stood united in this national State of Emergency in support of our town taxpayers and voted to suspend both the residential and commercial town-wide reassessments. While we are all dealing with the medical, social and economic impact of COVID-19, it’s important that we do not cause any undue hardship to those trying to make ends meet. I am proud of my fellow Councilmembers for this decision. To the residents of this community, please know that we stand with you during these difficult times.”

Residents learned of the re-assessments earlier this month.
