CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Cheektowaga Police Department is warning the public of a social security scam that uses specific information.
According to police, a report stated that an unknown man attempted to obtain personal information from a victim after providing a correct social security number.
Police say the suspect also used the name of the Cheektowaga Police Department as part of the threat.
Cheektowaga police say they will never ask for your personal information over the phone.
