Cheektowaga man facing charges for possessing child pornography, growing marijuana

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The U.S. Attorney's Office announced Wednesday a Cheektowaga man has been arrested and is facing multiple charges after the execution of a search warrant at his home.

According to officials, a search warrant was executed on October 19 at the home of 32-year-old John Stuart on Cleveland Drive in Cheektowaga. Investigators were searching for evidence of possession of child pornography.

Officials say during the search two laptop computers, a cell phone, two hard drives and a desktop computer tower were seized. Investigators say they also discovered a marijuana growing operation in a bedroom, the room allegedly consisted of a tent housing five mature marijuana plants and four smaller plants being grown hydroponically.

One pound of dried marijuana, six pounds of wet marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms were seized as well and three firearms were found in the residence.

Officials say a preliminary examination of the cell phone allegedly recovered three videos of child pornography.

Stuart faces the following charges:

Possession of child pornography.
Possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance.
Manufacturing of marijuana plants.

He faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
