TOWN OF POMFRET, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office announced a SWAT situation came to an end without incident Sunday.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to Stone Road in the Town of Pomfret just before 8 a.m. Sunday for reports of a male threatening to use a shotgun.
CCSO SWAT, CCSO Crisis Negotiation Team and Chautauqua County Emergency Services responded and established a command center.
Following a brief period of negotiations and with the efforts of CCSO SWAT, 57-year-old Gary Ortolano was taken into custody without incident and a shotgun was recovered from the residence.
Ortolano, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing any firearm. He was placed in the Chautauqua County Jail pending CAP arraignment, he faces a criminal possession of a weapon charge.
