JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office K9 received a life-protecting Christmas gift this year.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Cynthia Miley Evans and her husband David, donated a new bulletproof, stab resistant vest to the Sheriff's K9 unit.

The Evans family, on behalf of their seven nieces and nephews, purchased the vest to be used by K9 Bentley.

Bentley, a two-year-old Belgian Malinois Shepherd, is the newest member of the Sheriff's K9 unit.

Bentley was not yet equipped with a protective vest until the donation was made.

On Christmas Day, the entire K9 unit made a surprise visit to thank the Evans family.
