BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A dog that was found emaciated and dumped in a Buffalo garbage tote during freezing weather is getting healthier and stronger every day.

The SPCA Serving Erie County posted an update on "Charlie" to its Facebook page Tuesday.

Spokeswoman Gina Browning says Charlie is energetic and lively but the veterinarian is still monitoring his blood disease to see if it's a chronic condition that will need care for the rest of his life.

Investigators are still looking for the person who dumped Charlie, and there is a $2,475 award for any information leading leading to an arrest.

The SPCA is accepting donations for Charlie's treatment through the "Yelp for Help" fund, along with any cards, treats and toys the public would like to send. You can track Charlie's progress on the SPCA's Facebook page.
