BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A first of its kind cancer research center is now open at Roswell Park. The Center for Indigenous Cancer Research is dedicated to reducing the impact cancer has on Indigenous communities in Western New York and across the world.
The staff of the program are working to encourage cancer screenings, educate people, and also establish good care within Indigenous communities. They will work with partners across the country to coordinate events, conduct research and develop action plans for patients.
Roswell Park is collaborating with several sovereign nations for this effort, including the Seneca and Tuscarora Nations locally.
