Cattaraugus County man killed in Friday morning crash

TOWN OF GERRY, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office announced one man is dead and another was seriously injured in a Friday morning crash in the Town of Gerry.

According to sheriffs a single-vehicle crash occurred around 11 a.m. Friday on Gerry-Ellington Road, the passenger, Paul R. Newell of Steamburg, N.Y., was partially ejected from the vehicle and was announced deceased at the scene.

The driver was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Gerry Volunteer Fire Department, he was then airlifted by Medevac to Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriffs say the investigation continues at this time, charges will be pending based on the outcome of the investigation.
