(WKBW) — Canadians who travel through cashless tolls must pay to pass through as of this Friday, October 25.

The New York State Thruway Authority says it has reached an agreement with Ontario to access the addresses of Canadian residents. Canadians who travel through the cashless tolls-- including on Grand Island will receive a bill in the mail.

“The Thruway in Western New York is a gateway for Canadians and New York motorists who frequently travel between our two countries,” Thruway Authority Executive Director Matthew J. Driscoll said. “We thank the Ontario Ministry of Transportation for their cooperation in establishing this important agreement."

It costs $1 to travel through both cashless tolls on Grand Island. Canadians can pay online or over the phone by calling 1-844-826-8400. The agreement goes into place Friday.
