GENESEE COUNTY, N.Y. (WKBW) — More than 40 years after a Cheektowaga woman was murdered and her body found in the Genesee County woods, NYS Police are asking for help finding her killer.

Jessica Rose Lane was 66-years-old in 1977 when her partially decomposed body was found by two deer hunters. Her body was found in the wooded area off Alley Road in the Town of Darien, Genesee County. Police say she was fully-clothed, had fractured ribs, a fractured elbow, and a fractured skull. They believe her injuries were caused by stabbing.

State Police say the exact location of the murder isn't known, but say Lane was last seen November 11th at the Williamstown Apartments in Cheektowaga. Other people living there reported hearing thumps from Lane's apartment between 4:00 - 4:30 a.m. November 12th.

Lane lived alone, and police say she kept to herself. Suspects were developed over the years, but no one was arrested. Police continue their investigation into the cold case. They're asking anyone with information to call them at (716) 344-6200.
