BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Hundreds of vendors line the streets for the Allentown Art Festival and that usually means it will be a busy weekend for businesses on Allen Street in Buffalo, but the current construction in the area has some owner’s worried.

“Our busiest days are at the art festival and I don’t see that happening this year,” says Hamada Saleh, owner of Caffeology. The business is located between Main Street and North Pearl Street and that block will not have tents this year during the festival.

“I thought everything was going to be good for the festival and then I see this and I was like, okay, I can’t bank on business this year,” says Saleh.

The Commissioner of Public Works for the City of Buffalo says they will continue to work with businesses on that stretch of road to alleviate any issues.

“We’re working daily to make sure that we can accommodate businesses,” says Mike Finn, Commissioner of Public Works.

According to the city, construction on Allen Street between Main Street and Delaware Avenue is expected to wrap up next year. The next phase, between Delaware Avenue and Wadsworth Street, would begin after that.
