BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Erie County District Attorney's office says a Buffalo woman has plead guilty to fraudulently receiving social services benefits totaling over $135,000.

According to a release, 41-year-old Melissa Gibbs received SNAP, Medicaid, and day care benefits from the Erie County Department of Social Services between April 2012, and March 2017, despite not qualifying for those benefits.

Gibbs will repay those benefits as part of her plea, and could face a maximum of 15 years in prison.

She is expected to be sentenced on Feb. 12, 2020.
