BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — ECMC's drop-off zone served as a stage on Saturday evening. The Erie County Sheriff's Pipes and Drums played to honor healthcare workers and to raise morale.

"We just want to keep everybody's spirits up," drum sergeant Patrick O'Hare said. "We've done a few things over the past couple months that we've gotten our name out there and they know we're willing to do this."

The performance went from 6:30 to 7:00. The aim was to catch the first shift workers on their way out of the building and the second shift workers on their way in.

"It's very nice because a lot of times, it's the day shift that gets all of the notoriety," nursing supervisor Sandra Hartman said. "This allows the night shift to realize that they're really appreciated and they're part of the team."

"I just enjoy doing what we can for the frontline workers," O'Hare said. "I mean, they're really taking their chances every day."
