BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Jada Kenner had a big Saturday. She won the 300 meter race at the New York State high school championship indoor track meet. The Tapestry Charter School seventh grader is 12.

“She just turned 12 in July of last year. She's broken four state records this year. She broke the record for the 55m, the 60m, the 200m and the 300m,” said Dan Tryon the Tapestry Track Coach.

She couldn't believe she some of the best high school athletes in the state.

“I didn't know how to process it at first. Like, I started crying and I was very happy and then I started crying again and then I started smiling it was like, very complicated,” explained Kenner.

When Kenner was in school on Monday, she learned her Saturday race in Staten Island was even more special that she originally thought.

“My coach pulled me out of lunch today and told me,” said Kenner.

Jada's 300m was a world record for a 12 year old.

“I was kind of shocked and surprised when I found out,” said Kenner.

Jada is already looking ahead. The outdoor season starts soon and she has some lofty goals.

“I would love to go to the Olympics. That would be amazing. Because I feel like I could put in the work and make it there one day,” said Kenner.
