Buffalo police: officer-involved shooting at Broadway and Gatchell

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo police responded to an officer-involved shooting at Broadway and Gatchell Street around 6 p.m. Friday.

Captain Jeff Rinaldo says an officer was flagged down on Ambruster Street involving a stolen vehicle. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle an altercation occurred and the officer fired his weapon.

The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and a small pursuit occurred across Broadway.

A 31-year-old female was taken into custody on Shephard Street without further incident, she suffered a possible gunshot wound to her left hand and is currently at ECMC being treated.

The officer was not injured.

Police continue to investigate the incident at this time.
