2-year-old found wandering overnight; police investigate how boy escaped

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo police have located the family of a boy, 2, found overnight on a city street corner.

Police say an Uber driver found the child after 2 a.m. Tuesday on Main Street and West Utica Street.

The driver took the child to Oishei Children's Hospital of Buffalo.

The grandfather of the 2-year-old boy was watching the child while the mother was at work.

According to police, the child wandered outside the West Utica Street residence sometime during the night. Police say the doors appeared to be locked.

Police first released details of the boy being found with a public plea for help at 8:15 a.m. His family had been found by 8:30 a.m.

Police have been in contact with Child Protective Services. Authorities are investigating.
