Buffalo police identify suspect accused of shooting at officers overnight

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo police officers are searching for a suspect who they say fired shots at officers early Thursday morning.

Police identify the suspect as 23-year-old Robert McBride. Police say he is considered armed and dangerous.

This happened around 4:30 a.m. as officers responded to a shots fired call near Lang Avenue and Newburgh Avenue.

Police say McBride fired shots at officers. No officers were hit with gunfire, and there are no reports of anyone else being injured.

A lengthy foot chase followed, police said, but they did not find McBride.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to McBride's arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers Buffalo at 867-6161 or police.

NOTE: A previous version of this story reported that officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect. Police have since clarified to 7 Eyewitness News that officers did not fire back at the suspect.
