BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Adam Martin, a local AMR paramedic has been awarded for his life-saving action.

Martin has been selected as one of just 100 recipients nationwide of the 2020 Star of Life by the American Ambulance Association.

The award is considered the highest honor an emergency medical service (EMS) professional can receive.

A release states Martin is receiving the award for his action in saving a cardiac arrest patient. The patient was close to the edge of a roof with a 50 foot drop just inches away and Martin took over the life-saving interventions, performed numerous procedures and coordinated medical direction.

With Martin's action and the use of the fire department's ladder truck bucket, the patient was lowered to safety.

Martin has been a paramedic with AMR for over 10 years.
