BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The 2020 Buffalo Marathon has been postponed until 2021, but that doesn't mean the organized running has to stop.

The Buffalo Marathon is hosting "virtual challenges" which involve having the public run or walk 3.1 miles for a chance to win prizes.

The first challenge is a 3.1 fun run that can win a Dick's Sporting Goods gift card if the runner is wearing a costume.

"The internet allows people to stay connected and that's what we're doing, staying connected," said Greg Weber, Executive Director of the Buffalo Marathon.

This challenge runs until May 3rd.

All you have to do is post evidence of your run in costume to the Buffalo Marathon Facebook page, and you could win a $50 gift card.

The Marathon plans to do more challenges in the coming weeks.

Here are the official details

  • By May 3, 2020, run/walk at least 3.1 miles and wear a fun costume while doing it.
  • Post your pictures here of you running in your costume as well as a screenshot of your run tracking device to verify the miles. Post into the comments of the post.
  • Like their Facebook Page.
  • Once the challenge is completed, they will verify entries and choose someone at random to win.
