Buffalo man charged for restraining, beating and raping a woman in Riverside apartment

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A 28-year-old-man from Buffalo is accused of restraining, beating and raping a woman in Buffalo's Riverside neighborhood.

The Erie County District Attorney's office announces Bryam Bassett of Buffalo was arraigned in Buffalo City Court and charged with two counts of rape in the first degree, one count of assault in the second degree and one count of unlawful imprisonment in the first degree.

It's alleged that on May 5th of 2019, Bassett forced himself sexually on a female victim inside an apartment. He's accused of restraining her and intentionally causing physical injuries over the course of two days.

Bassett's bail was set at $100,000 cash or bond. He's currently in custody. If convicted of these charges, he could face a maximum of 25 years in prison.
