Buffalo high school placed on lockdown following verbal threat

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Buffalo high school was placed on lockdown after a student at International Preparatory School #198 made a verbal threat.

The 16-year-old male International Preparatory student is in custody. Buffalo Police say charges are pending.

According to school officials, the school was placed on lockdown at 2:37 p.m. Officials say police investigated the incident based on the student's threat of a weapon. The lockdown was lifted around 3:30 p.m.

BPD and K-9 units searched the grounds and no gun was located.

Buses were delayed 15 minutes because of the lockdown.

The Buffalo School District will follow protocol and take further action against the student in question, according to officials.
