BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The concept of going to the moon is no longer light-years away. Come July consumers can make the journey from the comforts of their home.
“We’re all space geeks here and seeing just how popular NASA was getting, we thought wow this is such a great experience to create something fun,” director or graphics at Buffalo Works John Bell said.
Bell is the creative mind behind Buffalo Games' latest game, Apollo.
“For this one we wanted to make sure we got it right," he said."There were so many things and so much historically tied into it that we wanted to respect.”
So Bell called up NASA, first for their blessing on the game, then for their insight.
“They were wonderful in terms of really making sure we represented NASA correctly.”
The goal of the game is just like NASA’s to make it to the moon and back safely. All players play on the same team. One runs mission controls, and the others are astronauts.
"It's gonna be one of those games where you hear those three magic words. Let's play again," Bell said. "What’s better than that?”
Apollo will be sold exclusively at Target starting July 27, and along with partnering with NASA, Buffalo Games also plans on launching games for Saturday Night Live, Buzzfeed, and Starwars.
