BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Buffalo Zoo says Buffalo firefighters responded to a small fire at the zoo Monday evening.

The fire began around 5:20 p.m. Monday in the former outdoor elephant habitat.

BFD responded quickly and extinguished the fire.

The zoo say the fire appears to have been caused by minor demolition work that took place earlier in the day.

No animals or team members were injured according to a zoo spokesperson.

The zoo will be open normal hours Tuesday.
