KRUG RETRIAL

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A federal jury will decide Buffalo Police Officer Corey Krug's fate, in connection to an excessive force charge from Thanksgiving 2014, in June.

Last month, a judge declared a mistrial on that charge, after the jury said it couldn't reach a verdict .

The government demanded a re-trial. That re-trial is scheduled to begin on June 11, 2019.

Krug was cleared of wrongdoing in three other counts; two counts of deprivation of rights under the color of law and a charge of falsifying documents.

The fourth count, from 2014, relates to Devin Ford. A 7 Eyewitness News photographer recorded Krug hitting Ford with his nightstick.

Ford was never arrested or charged with a crime.

The government claims this was excessive force. Krug's defense attorneys say he was just doing his job.
