BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Youtuber, a professional hair braider, a photographer and a business owner. Four very different women on different paths, but they carry the same message, and that's to not give up.
They were all part of the Buffalo Boss Babes speaker series, and shared with the women in attendance their stories and struggles that led them to become who they are today.
"We all have that strength and power within us, and it's just a matter of, you know, realizing that you have that strength and you can do it. You can get through anything that you want to get through," Susan Morreale, Co-owner of Her Sanctuary.
Morreale is speaking from experience; she got through a breast cancer diagnosis, a career change, and losing her own sister to breast cancer. But she said with the help of family and friends, she was able to keep her business open and keep growing.
Becki Peckham went from being a graphic designer and photographer to working in marketing, then she freelanced for some time but then found her niche after winning an international home renovation contest that she vlogged.
"That was kind of like the moment where I was like maybe blogging could be a career option because at that point I was kind of getting sick of working for other people," she said.
Alana Adetola worked in the corporate world but left to focus on photography. She was working for a non-profit to make extra cash but was laid off. But she said it was a blessing in disguise.
"Luckily for me that was the stepping stone to starting my own business," said Adetola.
And founder of Braid Babes Emily Bowman decided to quit her tech job to pursue her passion and build her business.
The four panelists reminded the women in the audience that they have the power to overcome the obstacles they may face in their paths.
