BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Erie County is mailing out the last round of property tax refund checks to homeowners who were overcharged by the county because of miscalculations, the comptroller's office announced.

Approximately 70,000 residents in Buffalo and Amherst will be receiving checks soon for $20 or less, comptroller Stefan Mychajliw said.

More than 126,000 refunds have already been sent to residents in 24 of 26 communities across the county.

Taxpayers who overpaid $5 or less on their 2020 property tax bill will receive a credit next year.
