BUFFALO, N.Y. — It's an old saying that many people still use, you have to buy bread, milk and eggs before a snowstorm hits.

Dash's Market, Tops and Wegmans are packed with people leading up to a storm.

"I have an image of myself frantically eating snow because I ran out of groceries," Leanna Porter a Wegman's shopper said.

Managers at Dash's and Tops say they see a 20-30 percent increase in business when the weather takes a nasty turn... and it's not just the basic foods. Many people we spoke with today say they like to stock up on deli meat for cold cuts, junk food, soup ingredients.

"It's been like armageddon here today," Jay at the Deli of Wegman's said. Dash's store manager John Mills said that his deli was also packed for the last few days with people stocking up to make cold cuts.

When's the best time to hit the grocery store? Kathy Sautter of Tops says the busy times are during people's lunch breaks and after work hours.
