BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — Maestro Joann Falletta is staying in Western New York for at least another five years.

The Buffalo Philharmonic announced a new contract extension for Falletta through the end of the 2026 season.

Falletta has served as music director of the BPO since 1999, when she became the first female conductor to lead a major american ensemble.

She's celebrating her 20th anniversary with the BPO this season.

Subscriptions have reached record levels during her tenure, and the orchestra has toured extensively both nationally and internationally.
