BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — In a now-deleted tweet, the official Buffalo Police Department Twitter account criticized Erie County's handling of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, Wednesday evening.

In response to a tweet from WBEN NewsRadio 930AM, the Buffalo police Twitter account tweeted the following

What a failure the leadership of Erie [C]ounty has turned out to be. That's why the state opened up their own site at UB. They knew the county couldn't get it done.

This follows news that the Erie County Department of Health had to cancel its COVID-19 vaccine clinics from January 23rd to January 27th at ECC North and ECC South due to a short supply.

Buffalo police Captain Jeff Rinaldo tells 7 Eyewitness News this tweet was "unauthorized" and the department is in the process of changing the password for the account.
