Bicyclist, motorcyclist sustain serious injuries in Batavia crash

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Two people sustained serious injuries after a crash between a bicycle and a motorcycle in Batavia on Saturday.

According to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened just after 6 p.m. at the intersection of Route 5 and Wortendyke Road.

Investigators say a 17-year-old female bicyclist was traveling northbound on Wortendyke Road when she attempted to cross Route 5 and collided with a motorcycle operated by a 27-year-old male, who was traveling eastbound on Route 5.

Both individuals were seriously injured and taken to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight.

The crash remains under investigation.

At this time, charges may be pending.
