AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — The BFLO Store has closed its location inside the Boulevard Mall as the company shifts its focus away from indoor mall locations.

"It's difficult to make mall shopping work when stores continue to close around us," said owner Nathan Mroz. "We became an island in which we could not set our own hours or offer our customers the experience that we offer at our Eastern Hills, McKinley and Canalside locations."

The BFLO Store also has a fourth location inside the Walden Galleria in addition to a robustonline sales operation.

The Boulevard Mall, which has been steadily losing tenants for several years, was purchased last year by Douglas Jemal for $30 million. The Washington, D.C.-based developer is already overseeing the massive transformation of the once-vacant Seneca One Tower and the Statler Towers in Downtown Buffalo.

"While we appreciate the new mall ownership, this is a short-term decision for the best interest of the brand," Mroz said. "We do have some really exciting plans in the works for that area."

In addition, Mroz said he will soon be rolling out a new line in partnership with the Buffalo Bills. The BFLO Store is the official retailer of the team.
