TOWN OF LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) — A shocking case of dog torture and killing has prompted animal advocacy groups and private citizens to offer thousands of dollars to catch the person responsible.

The bodies of 2 small dogs, who appear to have been severely abused, were found inside trash bags along Wilson Rd. in the Town of Lockport, last week.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office was sent to the scene after being called by the town's animal control office. Animal Control had been called after a highway crew discovered the pair of white garbage bags, Thursday afternoon.

The dogs, a terrier and a pug, were badly beaten and appeared to have been set on fire or burned at some point. Both dogs were approximately 2 years old.

Now, Cuse Pit Crew Inc. of Syracuse has offered $1,000, a local Niagara County family has offered $250, and a woman in the Seattle, Washington area has offered $5,000. This brings the total offered to $6,250.

The Sheriff's Office is assigning an investigator to the case. If you have any information on the abuse or disposal of these dogs, please call Captain Bruce Elliott at (716)-438-3327.
