BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo is taking spring cleaning to a whole new level.
The Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper is holding its Annual Shoreline Sweep where volunteers get together to clean up the waterways of Western New York.
This year’s Sweep is being held on Saturday, May 11, 10am to 12pm. On that day, volunteers will clean up over 50 shoreline sites throughout the area.
After the event, volunteers are invited to an appreciation party to celebrate their hard work. This year's party is being hosted by Labatt Blue.
In advance of the Sweep, Waterkeeper is holding "pre-game pop-ups" where they will raise money and acquire supplies for the clean-up event in May. The next collection event is this Friday, April 12th at Liberty Hound. You can bring an item from Waterkeeper's Amazon list or a monetary donation. Bring your donation, proof of purchase, or item and you’ll be treated to a Labatt Blue Light.
To register for the largest clean-up event in Western New York, you can head to this registration page. Make sure you register early though, some sites are already sold out! For more information on the event and the collections, you can head to the Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper Facebook page.
