BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Erie County Sheriff's Office says an arrest has been made after tips from the public helped identify a burglary suspect.

On December 29 law enforcement officials announced they were looking to identify a suspect in connection with a burglary.

According to ECSO around 5 a.m. December 25 deputies responded to reports of a break-in at the North Collins Community Bank on Main Street in North Collins. The glass was smashed on the two entrance doors and the lights were on in the lobby according to a report.

Officials say tips from the public helped identify the suspect, 24-year-old James Meehan, Jr. of Versailles, who allegedly provided a written statement to law enforcement about the burglary.

ECSO says Meehan faces burglary, criminal mischief and petit larceny charges. He faces separate charges from state police in connection with an incident in the Village of Gowanda.

Meehan was released with appearance tickets.
