EAST AURORA, N.Y. (WKBW) — The East Aurora Police Department has charged a Buffalo man in connection with an armed robbery at a Dollar General store that happened late morning on Wednesday.

Police say a man, described as a black male with a thin build wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and jeans, pulled out a silver handgun and demanded cash from the business on Buffalo Road before fleeing the area. Investigators say the man did take an undisclosed amount of money.

Police identify the man as 51-year-old Angel Reyes. He is charged with robbery and petit larceny after admitting the crimes to police.

Reyes is currently being held at the Erie County Holding Center.

Due to it's proximity, the Parkdale Elementary school did go into a "shelter in place" while police investigated the crime.

If you saw anything, East Aurora Police are asking the public to call them at 652-1111.
