AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — Amherst police have issued a reminder residents to secure their vehicles after a string of larcenies.

Officials say over the past several days there has been an increased number of larcenies from vehicles in the town and in the majority of the cases the vehicles were unlocked when the larcenies occurred.

Police released the following statement:

"The Amherst Police Department would like to remind residents to secure their vehicles while parked and not to leave keys or valuables inside. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the police and residents are encouraged to review any home security footage for suspicious activity as well."
