Amherst man pleads guilty to sexual conduct with a child under 11 years old

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — 65 year-old Anthony Mendola admitted to engaging in sexual conduct over the course of two years with a child under the age of 11.

Mendola pleaded guilty to one felony count of 'Couse of Sexual Conduct Against a Child' in a Erie County courtroom. He admitted that between 2015 and 2017 he had sexual contact with a child, including oral sex.

He faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is senteced on Monday, May 20th. He's currently remanded without bail.

The Erie County District Attorney's office commends Amherst police for their work, including Detective Ronald Smith, Detective Edward Solak and retired Detective Lt. August Canna. New York State Police investigator Helenda Mulawka and victim advocate Nicole Haffa also worked on this case.
