BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — An Amherst man will spend the next 25 years to life in prison for a grisly murder.

26-year-old Dydisci Martin shot his roommate's boyfriend to death in July of 2017. Martin then hid the body of 48-year-old Leon "Bruno" Nelson Junior in the basement of the home on May Street in Buffalo.

On Friday, Martin was sentenced on one count of Murder in the Second Degree.

“The family of the victim asked for the maximum sentence, and I am pleased that the judge granted their request,” said Erie County District Attorney John Flynn. “This was a senseless crime and I hope the family of Mr. Nelson feels that justice was served today.”
