TOWN OF PENDLETON, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Niagara County Sheriff's Office says one person is dead and two others are injured following a boating accident Saturday.

Around 7:30 a.m. Saturday officials responded to the area of 5484 Tonawanda Creek Road in the Town of Pendleton for the report of a boating accident.

Upon arrival, officials located two injured females who exited a boat that was damaged and crashed into an embankment.

The injured females told officials their friend, 40-year-old Jason Stubla of Amherst, had fallen out of the boat after striking an object in the creek.

Officials say that object was a metal support beam to a covered boat launch, after striking the beam the boat veered across the creek and landed on the south shore.

Several agencies began a search for Stubla, he was located in the water by Getzville Fire and pronounced dead at the scene. The two females were transported to local hospitals for treatment. No word was given on their condition.

NCSO says the investigation is ongoing.
