BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Erie County District Attorney's Office announced an Amherst man has been arraigned on one count of grand larceny in the second degree and two counts of falsifying business records in the first degree.

62-year-old Thomas F. Kiely allegedly stole approximately $500,000 while working as an accountant for Kinequip, Inc. in the Town of Amherst between March 1, 2015 and March 1, 2020.

Kiely is accused of sending checks on behalf of the business to a phantom company which he was allegedly the sole owner of.

He is scheduled to return on October 23 and was released on his own recognizance.
