TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Progress is being made on the new Amazon facility in the Town of Tonawanda.
Amazon Logistics will open a delivery station at the Riverview Solar Technology Park this year.
The facility will create hundreds of jobs, and those employees will need somewhere to park.
On Wednesday evening, the Town of Tonawanda Planning Board considered a plan to expand parking. Developers and town leaders say they want to make sure the facility comes together responsibly.
“Nobody wants growth that creates traffic problems, or problems with wetlands or natural facilities or large traffic problems… but the key is to do it well,” says Ken Swanekamp, chairman of the planning board.
We're going to work as collaboratively as we can with the Town of Tonawanda and everyone involved to address those issues and continue to build on the momentum in developing Riverview Solar Technology Park,” says Byron DeLuke with TM Montante Development.
Amazon hopes to open the new delivery station by the end of June.
