BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Ikpa family moved from Georgia to Buffalo back in May for a unique opportunity with the Town of Tonawanda's Amazon Delivery Station.
Their company, Castletop Logistics, is one of ten companies in the Town of Tonawanda that’s partnering with Amazon's Delivery Service.
Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner program helps aspiring entrepreneurs build their own businesses by delivering packages for Amazon.
Shawn Ikpa said being selected as a partner was important to him.
"We saw it as a great opportunity for us to do something together as a family," he said.
It was also an opportunity to make up for lost time.
"My brother is 16 years younger than me, and as he was growing up in the house, I was leaving the house for college and then for getting my career started in the Navy," he said.
"Growing up, there wasn't a lot of opportunities to be with them. So now that like, hey we're here together and we get to grow as a family," said Dez Ikpa, Shawn's brother.
Their father, Donnie Ikpa, worked in IT, so he traveled a lot. He was initially helping his two sons with the move, but saw something that made him decide to stay and join the business.
"I started observing what's going on, how they're building the teams and I was like wait a minute I need to hang on a little longer. And the longer I stayed the more interesting it got," he said. "To the point where looking at the two young men interacting as adults, you know, making corporate decisions. I just couldn't pass that up."
The company has been in business for roughly five months now, and delivers to Tonawanda, Amherst, Williamsville, Clarence and as far east as Medina.
