BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The ALS Association of Upstate New York will kick off its annual campaign season this week which all leads up to the ALS Walk held in Delaware Park in August.
Each year the walk has one honoree, this year's honoree is Lisa Kubek who was diagnosed with primary lateral sclerosis (PLS) in 2009.
Lisa and her husband Joe are active with the ALS Association which has connected them with financial resources and offers emotional support.
The funds raised throughout the campaign go right back into the local chapter to help people like Lisa who are dealing with a diagnosis.
Organizers hope to raise more than $200,000 dollars.
